Carrier Code and SCAC Code
CARRIER CODE: A carrier code is a four-character unique identifier that is assigned by the CBSA to identify a carrier. Only one carrier code is issued to each legal entity (corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship) per mode of transport (highway, marine, air or rail).
Carrier code is of two types:
Bonded: A bond of 25000.00 is required to become Bonded Carrier.
Non-Bonded – No bond is required in this case.
SCAC CODE: The Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) is a unique two-to-four-letter code used to identify transportation companies. SCAC Code is required for interstate operations.
